Spy Chief carries the top rating (108) and has genuine Listed/Group form fluctuating from a high level - his 20 last time out over C&D-type conditions came fresh after a break, and with Ryan Moore booked and a good low draw (2), he looks the class act returning to a trip he's already won at this level. Gosden yard know how to place him fresh and he's clearly the one to beat on ratings with the strongest big-race profile in the field. Catullus (3yo, improving, Godolphin/Buick) and Myal (in-form, won recently) are the closest rivals, but Myal is already era of his current form cycle six days after his last run which could blunt him, and Catullus is stepping up in grade after a career-best but is unproven at this level against these experienced types. Northern Champion's fair recent efforts (109108) show they're competitive but not dominant. Elarak and Fondo Blanco carry the same 130lbs top weight but their profiles (indifferent recent placings) don't inspire the same confidence as Spy Chief's residual class edge.
