He's the highest-rated horse in the field after Azure Zain/Bergerac/Miraculous but those carry question marks: Bergerac is out of form (0-0000) despite the tongue strap addition; Miraculous has been running over further and is stepping back sharply which is unproven; Azure Zain's form has tailed off (5-0166) and he's drawn widest in double figures at 10. Fenlander meanwhile has a recent win last time out from a similar campaign and looks fresh with only a 20-day break. His draw in 6 is workable and he's shown he handles this class/level with more than one recent success. Massimo Blue (-55331) is also in-form but lower rated and less proven at this level stepping up in class effectively. Flash Rascal is interesting as a improving 3yo but his form figures show more mixed efforts (-32318) and he's already had a good look at this grade. Overall Fenlander offers the cleanest profile: fit, in-form, trip-proven, and represents a trainer (Pam Sly) who is competitive at this level with a booked apprentice claiming 3lbs which helps. He looks the most reliable source of form in a competitive, moderate contest and should start amongst the market leaders, justifying being the number one selection on genuine substance rather than market position alone.
