The Verdict

Small four-runner field where the two geldings (Green Cape, Nesthorn) look to have questionable recent form - Green Cape's 4-9408 line includes a string of modest efforts and he's fresh off a 74-day layoff which is a slight concern for fitness. Nesthorn's 777405 shows he's struggled to find the frame most starts, only sneaking a placing recently, and needs this drop back to be competitive against fresher, higher-class rivals.
Plaid, a 3yo filly from James Fanshawe, gets a significant weight-for-age allowance (128lbs vs 133lbs for the geldings) which is a big swing factor at this level. Her form figure -21534 shows she's been consistently competitive, with a placed effort not long ago, and she's lightly raced with more scope for improvement than the older geldings. Fanshawe is a shrewd handler with fillies at this trip/class, and Daniel Muscutt is a capable book. The 33-day gap since her last run suggests fitness shouldn't be an issue, and her class form reads more solid than Green Cape's recent scratchy figures.
Runman for Gosden/Murphy is the most fashionable, with a big yard and top jockey, and his recent 13-day turnaround plus improving figures (-14018) make him formidable - he's likely favourite. But at a big token allowance too (128lbs) he's probably over-bet given he's yet to fully nail a win at this level this season judging by the figures. I prefer Plaid as the value alternative who should get a stronger gallop and the fitness/weight combination to outrun the market leader.
