The Verdict

FormCast selectionZoarConfidence 4/5
This is a wide-open 2yo maiden with plenty of unraced types, so proven ability and pedigree/stable strength matter most. Zoar is from the powerful Donnacha O'Brien/Coolmore-affiliated operation, by No Nay Never (an elite source of precocious sprint 2yo winners) out of a Invincible Spirit-line mare, and already has a runner-up form figure (2) on his only start, at just 32 days ago - fresh and fit. Chris Hayes takes the ride, a strong booking. The runner-up effort suggests he's already shown ability against winners' form, and with a stable of this quality there's every reason to expect forward progression for a second start, particularly with a sprint pedigree ideally suited to 6f on good ground. Roeillaun (14) with a 672 form line and an actual rating (77) is the most exposed and probably the market's likely favourite given she has already been placed twice, but she's proven she isn't quite good enough to win having been runner-up and third already - each of those runs suggests she found one better. She's more of an each-way type but not a standout value win bet given she's already shown her ceiling. Magma King (2) also has a solitary run and looks interesting (Pinatubo progeny, robust weight of 135lbs top-rated), but the form figure of "7" suggests a well-beaten run, less encouraging than Zoar's runner-up effort. Among the unraced horses, Catch The Boss (Harrington/Foley, by Calyx ex Frankel mare) has looks of a well-bred type but with no run to prove furlong sharpness against experienced rivals, she's more of an unknown risk than a confident selection. Overall, Zoar's proven placed effort, elite/precocious sire, positive connections and fresher campaign profile give him the best combination of form evidence and upside, and expect him to start favourite or close to it deservedly - not simply a market-led selection but the genuine best form case in the field.
