The Verdict
FormCast selectionRun Ted RunConfidence 4/5Won ✓
Run Ted Run won his sole start impressively and is trained by Willie Mullins with Paul Townend up - a combination with a huge strike rate in maiden hurdles at this level, especially at Listowel. A first-time-out winner from this yard usually means the horse is well regarded and ready to progress. Contrast with the rest of the field: Sharp As Glass and Too Hot To Trot have been off for over 150 days and are unproven at this trip; Game Theatre is also stale having not run for 171 days; Tribal Thunder and Rememberwhat have been well beaten with unreliable form; Goodmancon and Haveanothertry carry the highest official ratings (103/110) but their form figures (multiple mid-pack finishes and falls) suggest they're held-up types who haven't nailed a win yet, and Haveanothertry hasn't run in six months. Fuusland was unseated last time and has questions to answer. None of these rivals show the man of dominant scope to stop a smart Mullins/Townend combo stepping up in trip for the first time (2m6f being a natural progression for a promising sort). Given Mullins' dominance in Irish maiden hurdles generally, and Townend's presence signalling this is one they fancy, Run Ted Run is the standout form and stable-confidence play, even if not massive value at a short price - it's the most reliable route to backing the winner in a race with plenty of unproven or out-of-form types around it.
