The Verdict

This is a messy 6f novice fillies race with little proven class, so I lean on the strongest yard/pedigree combo. Encore, from Haggas's powerful stable, is out of a Group-class Dansili mare (Black Dahlia) and already has solid form figures (5-2), suggesting she's already run well and been placed second last time, clearly ahead of most of this field on exposed form. Haggas fillies of this type typically improve for a run and are drawn to be well-primed for a race like this. Draw 1 is workable over 6f at Kempton, and Harry Davies riding suggests stable confidence. Forbidden Colours (Ed Walker, Kingman colt out of a black-type family) has the best official rating (69) and consistent 4-5484 figures, and is the obvious market alternative, but her finishing positions show she's yet to break through, and 49 days off suggests some petering out of the leraning curve. Given Encore's runner-up effort last time and stronger overall pedigree/stable, she looks the most likely to progress into a winning effort now, especially fitted into a competitive but not top-class novice contest. The rest of the field is largely unexposed or downright moderate (no form, or one modest run), adding risk without proven upside. I'll take Encore as the horse most likely to translate a big yard's intent and residual placed form into a win.
