Haydock 3:17 Result

Recent form reads 56641 - clearly progressive, won last time out and the form shows steady improvement race to race rather than a one-off. OR of 70 is fair for this grade and he's proven he can win recently rather than just placing. Kodi Bear progeny generally handle a range of ground and this sire's stock have shown they act well fresh off a break too. Tribal Appearance (top-rated at 74) has a solid 244 formline but hasn't run in 90 days which is a query fitness-wise for a two-year-old stepping back into competitive nursery action, and gelded 2yos returning from a break can be underprepared for a stiff test in soft ground. Koodini's 022310 shows fluctuating form and the concession of weight from a lower mark makes less material sense than backing the horse type progressing forward. Vinery and High Hazard both have questionable recent efforts (627, 92300) with little to suggest incline toward more improvement at this specific trip/ground combo. Green Titan and Diplomata are interesting names but lack the sustained upward trajectory Katie's Cavalier offers. The extra runs and consistent improvement, coupled with a jockey (Hector Crouch) who rides with purpose in nurseries, gives this to be the smart, value-based selection at a workable price relative to the market taking Tribal Appearance and Koodini as jolly. Draw 9 isn't ideal but shouldn't be decisive over 7f on this track when the horse has tactical speed to find a workable position.
