The Verdict
FormCast selectionCapability BrownConfidence 3/5Didn't win
This is a wide-open 18-runner juvenile maiden with little solid form to go on, so I'm leaning on stable strength, pedigree and market signals. Capability Brown is by Dubawi out of a Galileo mare (Maybe - herself a top-class Group performer), trained by A P O'Brien and ridden by an in-form yard. His debut run (form figure 6) came 50 days ago, giving time for improvement, and this is exactly the type of grade Ballydoyle target with well-bred types fitted with experience. The Coolmore/O'Brien battalion dominates these Irish maidens, and this one has the strongest physical/pedigree profile of their team entries (ahead of stablemate Drumbeat who was already tried and found one too good, finishing 63). 7f on yielding should suit a stoutly-bred Dubawi/Galileo colt just fine, and having one run under his belt versus several unraced rivals is a workable advantage in a maiden this size. The Donnacha O'Brien trio (Bold Move, Verona Basilica, Forthethrillofit) and Joseph O'Brien quartet dilute the opposition, and none of the first-time-out horses have proven form to trust blind. Verona Basilica (form 9) and Snapequus (form 0) both flopped in their sole outings. Given the depth of unexposed types, backing the horse with the best physical/pedigree combination and already having race fitness is the most logical starting point. I don't see a standout value placer given how live several of the unraced types are, so no each-way selection today.
