Catterick 3:36 Result

Kings Merchant is top-rated on official figures (OR63) and his recent form line 782145 shows he's found form, winning last time out and racing consistently well. He carries top weight but that reflects his ability, and the addition of blinkers today could sharpen him further for a stable that clearly has him working. Draw 2 is workable at Catterick over 6f, not ideal but not a killer either. Hi Lord shares the same OR63 but his form figure 513730 is more inconsistent with a couple of duds mixed in, and draw 7 is wider. Dream Deal has been in good form (227407) but is 7 and stepping back from a slightly stronger effort; his solitary recent win came at a different circuit. Winter Crown has a big break (247 days) and unproven fitness, while Pit Boss also has a lengthy layoff (165 days). Solar Cooper is a lightly-raced 3yo with modest form figures with no standout trait to suggest today's drop/rise in class suits. One Of Our Own and Eldeyaar are more workmanlike and outrated. Overall, Kings Merchant's rising formline, recent run (38 days, fresh but not stale), and being the highest-rated combine to make him the most solid confidence play, even without being spectacularly big price. He looks the one to beat and the market should reflect that reasonably fairly, but his profile edges it as the best combination of form and ability in a moderate Class 6 affair.
