The Verdict

FormCast selectionI Am RoyalConfidence 4/5Didn't win
This is a competitive novice with several debutants, so I favour the runners with proven form over unraced types. I Am Royal has the only official rating (78), has run twice already (form figures 32), placing both times, and is bred by Kodiac out of a Exceed And Excel mare - a sire/damsire combo that produces plenty of precocious, fast-maturing sprinters ideal for this 6f trip. Richard Hughes' string is in good form and Billy Loughnane is a strong booking. Draw 1 is workable over 6f at Yarmouth. Channel Islands (2/5/2 form) and Flick Of An Eye (3rd on debut for the powerful Crisford team) are the obvious market rivals, but I Am Royal's experience edge (two runs, two places) and rating give him a tangible form advantage over this field of largely unexposed types. Channel Islands' form figures (52) show a below-par run last time which is a slight concern, while Flick Of An Eye's solitary run was only a third - promising but unproven that he can go one better against similarly progressive types. The unraced trio (Bad Dreams, Caturra Rock, If You Like) are all fashionably bred and from good yards (Spencer, Dunlop, Haggas) but stepping into the unknown against experienced rivals with solid form is a risk, especially first time in a stronger novice event. If You Like wearing tongue-tie is a minor question mark too. I Am Royal looks the most solid, proven type in the race and should go well again, with the experience/fitness edge working in his favour on ground that won't be against him.
