The Verdict

FormCast selectionAhmadiConfidence 4/5Didn't win
This looks a competitive 2yo novice with several unraced types, which makes proven form stand out. Ahmadi is the only runner with a clear form figure of note (4th) fresh off a recent run 29 days ago, from the powerful Ralph Beckett yard who is excellent with this type of lightly raced 2yo. He also has top-class connections in Oisin Murphy, one of the best jockeys in the country, booked to ride - a strong stable/jockey confidence angle. Being by St Mark's Basilica out of an Amarena/Soldier Hollow damline, he has the physical scope and pedigree to progress and be suited to this mile trip on good-to-soft ground. Beckett's second string Rose Moon is unraced, so the yard's intent is clearly signalled by pairing their more experienced/exposed runner with Murphy. Hereward (3rd last time) and Minsmere (5th) are others with recent form but neither has the same quality of placing or profile. The unraced batch (Play Again Sammy, Rose Moon, Miss Faithfull, Caelan's Rose) are all interesting on pedigree alone, but with zero form to assess we simply cannot rate their true assessment above the exposed leader in the market. Ahmadi represents the classic 'best form horse in a maiden-type contest' angle: he has already shown he handles this level, has猫 a leading trainer and top jockey, and the manner of the placing (4th) suggests more to come with experience. Backing him as the horse with the most proven assessment for the least amount of risk, especially with the yard's stronger stable jockey booking, is the clearest edge in this race even without market prices given.
