The Verdict

FormCast selectionEmergency ManConfidence 3/5Didn't win
This is a typical bumper-type flat race full of unexposed and unraced sorts, making form analysis tricky, but a few markers stand out. Emergency Man has the best profile of proven runners with a 2-3 form line from his last two starts, showing he's already been competitive and placed at this level, and comes from Paul Nolan's yard who knows how to place these types. His experience (two runs, both in the frame) gives him a tangible edge over the numerous unraced or single-run rivals who are stepping into the unknown. Sharbel, ridden by the excellent amateur Derek O'Connor for in-form Peter Fahey, is the obvious market threat and can't be ignored given the training/riding combination, but his solitary run resulted in a well-beaten 6th, and I'd want to see more before trusting him at a short price. Walkwithmyfriend's 4-4 form suggests only faced weak or now similar level opposition without threatening to win. The likes of Caprison, Double Helix, El Paraiso, Ellen Imlach, Mister Moon, Oneforbeano and Thats It Ruby are all completely without form and are hard to assess, though several come from strong yards (Cromwell, Elliott, de Bromhead) suggesting they're not without ability - but backing an unraced horse in a competitive 15-runner field is a bigger gamble than backing proven form. Given Emergency Man's tangible experience edge and being fit from a recent enough run (28 days), he looks the most solid combination of proven ability and being fairly fancied without being over-bet, offering the best staked value in a race lacking a standout.
