This is a huge-field 23-runner maiden with plenty of unexposed types, but a few form lines stand out. Michinaga was a close-up 6th on debut before running a solid 9 last time (form 96), for the powerful Charles Weld yard, and his sire Rey De Oro/Deep Impact damsire suggests strong stamina for middle distances - improvement expected for a 3yo with only two runs. Handani (Weld) has useful form figures with an OR of 84, the highest rated horse in the field, and wears first-time cheekpieces, but is drawn very wide (23) in a maximum field which is a big concern over this trip at Navan, and Chris Hayes is a strong booking. Camelot Queen (OR72) and Sakoku (OR77) both have solid handicap-standard form and represent the smart JP O'Brien/Aidan O'Brien string but Camelot Queen looks best over further and Sakoku's tongue-tie suggests a breathing issue. Given the McCullagh ride for Metallic (JP O'Brien) was a promising 8th last time and Camelot has a strong stamina influence, but the whole O'Brien team is well fancied and it's hard to split. I'll side with Michinaga as the most progressive-looking type with a clear runner-up effort already banked, drawn reasonably (11) in a big field, and from a yard in form. The favourite likely comes from the massed JP O'Brien/O'Brien battalion or Handani, but the wide draw and unproven experience level make those vulnerable relative to a solid than of using Michinaga's clear placed form and consistent trajectory.
