Black Storm is the classiest and top-rated runner (OR 70) and his recent form line 425331 shows a horse improving into a rich vein of form, winning last time out and clearly progressive. He's fit from a recent run (26 days isn't stale) and has already proven he handles this trip and going. Jason Hart takes the ride which suggests confidence. Blinkers on can sharpen him further. His only query is the wide draw (8) but over 7f that's less of an issue than sprint trips. Masaban is the obvious market alternative - a lightly raced 3yo with fair form (613523) but he's stepping up in class/experience against more seasoned rivals and his last run was 35 days ago, and his sire Siyouni line suggests more of a mile bred than out-and-out 7f speed type. Jesmond Dawn and Carolus Magnus both have solid recent placed efforts but neither shows the same trajectory as Black Storm, who is clearly attacking his current mark. Vince Le Prince with tongue-tie added is workmanlike but hasn't shown the turn of foot to trouble the front two. Overall Black Storm's recent scintillating form (three wins/places in last four including a win) makes him the most solid alongside being unexposed at this new higher level - he looks the one they all have to beat and represents a fair betting proposition without being disproportionately short.
