The Verdict

FormCast selectionExtragalacticConfidence 4/5Didn't win
This is a very hard maiden to read with five newcomers, but Extragalactic gives the strongest form-based case. He was runner-up on debut (form figure 2) for William Haggas, a trainer renowned for having two-year-olds fit and ready first time out and for placing them well next time. Jason Hart takes the ride, and the yard's strike-rate with lightly-raced sorts stepping up from a placed debut is strong - these types often go well next time out having learned the game. He also has a favourable inside-ish draw (1) which can help in a raw 7f maiden with no pace pressure established. Hope Of Acklam (92 form) is the obvious market rival, having won or been placed already, but that literal form figure suggests a below-par level effort last time; still, he can't be dismissed. Vegasmile (4th) and Luna Lacy (6th) both have experience but underwhelming form figures. Among the six-strong newcomer/lightly raced group, Showcasing Glory (Charlie Johnston, by Showcasing) and Veloxian (Galileo damsire, Tuer stable in form) have some sire/stable appeal, but with zero form to assess, backing a proven-placed types makes more sense for value and reliability. Extragalactic's Haggas placement, encouraging debut effort, and quality jockey booking make him the most solid win chance in a race lacking a standout, and he should be sensibly priced without being the obvious market leader (that's likely to be Hope Of Acklam), giving some overlay value.
