Enoch is by Frankel out of a winning Gosden/Buick team, won his sole start last season and carries the top weight for good reason - clearly the classiest, best-bred colt in this weak novice field. A 335-day layoff is a slight concern but Gosden's horses are routinely fit first-time out/after breaks, and this connections combo (Gosden/Buick) with a Frankel colt debut winner strongly suggests they rate him highly and this is a stepping stone. None of the rivals have proven form at this level - Black Chiffon (OR85) was a maiden winner but faded to 4th last time, Colonnade has been beaten twice without winning, and the rest are toiling with no or modest form. Enoch's determined debut win, the drop in a small, largely unproven field, and the powerhouse stable/jockey combination make him the swift market elect and rightly so. This looks like a match of Enoch's superior class against others who haven't shown enough to trouble him. Ground and trip (1m AW) should suit given his pedigree (Frankel/Maria's Mon influence favours middle distances) and the return from a break with a leading yard's confidence is a positive signal rather than a worry.
