The Verdict
FormCast selectionConquer The BreezeConfidence 4/5Didn't win
Three-runner race, so this is about identifying the standout. Conquer The Breeze has the strongest recent form of the trio, with a sequence reading -11411 — three wins from his last four starts and clearly progressive with a rising OR. He's the only one with a truly consistent recent profile, winning readily each time he's been fit and in form, and Ryan Mania takes over which is a positive booking for a yard in good form. Duke of Luckley's form line (P-13V1) shows he can win but also has a fall and pull-up in there — less reliable, and top-weight at 168lbs off a 125 rating means he has more to find on ratings terms against a rival who is 7lbs better off for a similar level of ability shown. Garde des Champs is old at 10, lowest-rated of the three (103), and his recent line (-43328) shows he's now finishing well held petering into mid-pack finishes; he looks the swing horse of the group but not good enough against these two on pure ability. The key formline for me is Conquer The Breeze's recent scintillating sequence — a horse clearly working out how to win and doing so with intent, aided by suitable handicap mark. In a three-runner event with little pace pressure, the horse in the sharpest form and with the assured jockey booking should be well positioned to dictate. I'll side with the in-form runner over the class horse carrying big weight and questionable jumping recently.
