Haydock 5:25 Result

Military Leader is in career-best form with a 132221 sequence, showing consistent placing/winning and improving with every run. Top weight-class OR of 82 puts him right in the mix, and the profile of a horse who keeps knocking on the door and just got his head in front suggests he's flourishing. Paul Mulrennan takes over and the yard (Phillip Makin) is in good form. Crucially, this consistent recent-form horse has proven he handles a strongly-run test and the 1m trip suits based on his recent efforts, all coming at a track/trip combination that rewards proven stamina over heavy ground (a demanding surface where fitness and current form matter more than big-field chaos). Caim looks the swankiest on RPR (OR 87) but is a filly stepping into just her 5th career start with a blank last time (form 12-49) and unproven test at this trip/ground against experienced handicappers — market likely overs her on potential rather than proven current superiority. Crown Office has talent (won once) but the 1-0462 profile shows inconsistency and it's now 3 runs since his win, question marks over resilience. Final Night and Metal Merchant both arrive with indifferent recent form despite matching the 82 rating. Jungle Ruler and Miletus are workmanlike but have had chances without nailing it. Military Leader's trajectory (finishing 2-2-1 in his last three) marks him as the one going the right way with race-fitness and a rating that hasn't yet caught up to his true current form.
