Goodwood 2:00 Result

Forty Years On boasts a rock-solid form line: 1112-1, four wins from five starts including her most recent run, with the only blip being a slightly higher finish in between. She's clearly progressive, has proven herself at this trip and on quick ground, and returns fresh off a break which suits a filly who has looked well-treated on a rising mark. At OR 96 she still sits below the class-leading weights (Fondo Blanco 101, Pellitory 98) yet her form figures are the strongest and most consistent in the field — most rivals show mixed recent efforts (0s and inconsistent placing) whereas she's barely put a foot wrong. George Scott's yard tends to place fillies well and Hector Crouch takes over confidently. The 79-day layoff is a query but her trainer has time to freshen her for a big-target handicap and her class edge from that recent progressive win suggests she's not a spent force. Fondo Blanco carries a big weight at 135lbs off a interrupted campaign (214-00) and looks vulnerable there; Pellitory's book at 132lbs is workable but his true form dip (-00201) shows he's had underwhelming efforts too. Ghost Mode and Addison Grey are consistent but have more established, capped profiles rather than genuine improvement. Forty Years On's rating of 96 with such strong scoring form gives genuine upside, and if she reproduces her last winning effort she can beat these on official figures. I'll take her as the value win bet in a well-competitive but beatable handicap.
