The Verdict
FormCast selectionCashel BlueConfidence 4/5Didn't win
In a bumper 25-runner 6f handicap, recent form and momentum matter enormously. Cashel Blue is the only runner in the field with a genuine win last time out and is clearly progressive: form reads 513501, meaning she's won twice recently and is racing within 7 days of her last outing, showing the stable has her cherry-ripe. She's a 3yo filly still lightly raced with only 128lbs, giving her a nice weight break versus the older, higher-rated types like Sommelier and Go Athletico at the top of the weights carrying 139-140lbs. Trainer K J Condon knows how to place these types and the quick backup run suggests a horse in form and going the right way. The low draw (5) is also workable in a race with a big field. Space Blues progeny tend to have speed which suits a stiff 6f handicap. Several of the market-fancied types have questions: Sommelier hasn't run in 43 days and his level form (871500) doesn't scream stand-out; Real Encounter is dropping in class/trip questions with a mixed 216230 read; Go Athletico is old and hasn't strung together consistent efforts. Cashel Blue's rapid book of form, the manner of the recent victory, and a workable draw stand out as the strongest combination of current form and value in a race that's essentially a lottery due to field size. I'm not going big each-way here as I view Cashel Blue as a genuine winning cha
nce rather than just a placer, but no other runner offers as strong value-for-chance combination.
