The Verdict
FormCast selectionAl FujairahConfidence 4/5Didn't win
Al Fujairah is a lightly-raced 3yo on a clear upward curve: 4-3-2 finishing figures show consistent improvement each start, and he was runner-up last time with the form suggesting he's crying out for this longer trip after being campaigned over shorter. Churchill/Danehill Dancer pedigree suggests stamina for 1m2f will suit even better than shorter trips he's already been competitive over. Trainer Iain Jardine can find these improving handicappers well, and Jack Callan takes over having presumably ridden him recently. His OR of 70 matches him with Golden Caviar as top-rated, but his profile of consistent progression (4-3-2) versus Golden Caviar's slightly stop-start 5-5-3 form gives him the edge for engagement in this small, winnable Class 5 field. Sutton Hoo has interesting form figures but a big layoff (59 days) and question marks after his last effort, while the addition of a visor is unproven. Sweet Kiss has solid recent form but is already 6 runs into a campaign and has been held at a lower level. Golden Caviar is the most obvious market rival — Ed Dunlop / Hector Crouch is a live combo and he's clearly progressive too, but the step to this trip is unproven having won/placed over shorter, and his profile looks more exposed at a mile than Al Fujairah looks capable of getting further with. I'm siding with the improving, unexposed sort with the pedigree and trajectory to still be ahead of a mark of 70. Best bet in a competitive, well-matched field of lightly-tried types.
