The Verdict
FormCast selectionAl ArriveeConfidence 4/5Won ✓
This is a typically weak Irish mares maiden hurdle field, but Al Arrivee stands out on form and connections. Her form line 124-13 shows she's already run creditably in maidens with a placed effort and a recent win figure in there, meaning she has solid experience and has been competitive against similar company. Crucially she's trained by Willie Mullins, whose dominance in these bumper/maiden hurdle events at tracks like Listowel is well documented, and today she's ridden by his son Patrick Mullins, a top amateur with excellent big-meeting placing/winning statistics in these types of races. The Mullins yard rarely sends a mare to this type of contest without genuine intent, and the fact she's already shown a winning effort in the form figures suggests she has racing experience to fall back on compared to several of these rivals who are first-time out or have workmanlike/no form (e.g. Jetaway Annie, Lil Soldier, Maximum Bonus with PPP). Stable-mate Moja Dama is main market rival but her form figures (31-0) are murkier and she wears a hood for the first time under these conditions, and Townend's book could be split. Given Mullins' record of fielding multiple runners in these races and usually the one ridden by family/stable jockey with clean form is fancied, I side with Al Arrivee. The Besty Woman (de Bromhead) and Lennon Grove (Cromwell) have index form but come back off decent layoffs and less telling recent placed figures. Certosa is the only rated horse (OR 98) with fair recent placed form but hasn't scored yet and is dropping to fresh petrol against the powerhouse yard. Overall, Al Arrivee's proven placed/winning form, positive trainer/rider combination, and fitness (57 days since last run, not too long) make her the strongest match of ability to opportunity.
