Lucky Vega progeny are generally sharp, precocious types who handle synthetic tracks well, and the fact this colt has already been runner-up while others are debutants or beaten favourites gives him a form edge. Cashinoroyale (Palace Pier colt, decent 4th) and There Goes My Hero (07 figures, could be vastly improved with a change of tactics/fitness) are the obvious dangers, but neither has actually finished as close to winning as Pure Concept's runner-up effort suggests. Given the small, moderate field, Pure Concept's proven placed effort at a similar level, positive handler, and sensible draw (2) make him the strongest combination of solid form and stable intent, and represents the best combination of chance and price in a race lacking a standout.
