Down Royal 4:58 Result

Maiden two-year-old sprint packed with unknown quantities, so I'm leaning on the few that have already shown solid form. Spanish View's "90" form figure is the best of the runners with recorded form, suggesting she ran on well last time (form reads 9 then 0, or could be a strong placing) and did so only 15 days ago, indicating fitness and a quick backup. Gabby Hayes shows "96" which looks even stronger on paper and is a temptation, but that was for a different trainer/stable combo (Noel Meade) that also fields Petrolio here - splitting stable confidence, and the "9" digit could indicate a below-par run rather than a clean placing depending on how figures are read; regardless, both Gabby Hayes and Spanish View are the standout form horses. I'm siding with Spanish View because Phoenix Of Spain progeny tend to have petrol early and get one furlong into their stride, ideal for a 7f test on good ground, and Jarlath Fahey has a knack of placing precocious fillies to maximum effect in these auction/median maidens. The rest of the field is mostly first-time-out or lightly raced with little to go on bar pedigree - Whosinterviewinwho has the only official rating (80) and a consistent-looking 7-5-2 form string, making him the biggest market rival, but his A Slattery/A Slattery combo (trainer-riding) is unproven at this level and he's already had three runs without breaking through, suggesting he needs uncovering ground he may not get. Ar Son Na Cuise and Togetherwearefree for O'Brien are drawn awkwardly wide and unproven. I'll take Spanish View as the confident source of form in a race short on solid evidence.
