The Verdict

FormCast selectionWackestoneConfidence 4/5
This looks a weak maiden hurdle on paper, and Wackestone stands out as the only runner with a genuine official rating (113) and solid form figures (3260-6), showing he's been competitive against rated company rather than untested. Gordon Elliott's yard is elite at this discipline and the blinkers application suggests they're working to sharpen him up for this. The form string shows he's flirted with a place several times (3rd, 2nd, 6th) without quite getting it done, and dropping into a maiden with rivals who are either lightly raced, unproven, or returning from long layoffs (Santa Domingo 335 days, Lisnadill 91 days) gives him a clear opportunity to finally break through. Jockey Joshua Halford takes the ride but the training operation and quality of what Wackestone has already been competing against give him a clear formful edge over this field. None of the others has anything close to the substance of his form - Seamy Appletart and Oops A Daisy both show only a place finish in bumpers/hurdles starts, Teddy Jones and Hidden Empire both finished well beaten last time (9th, 8th). Wackestone's the most exposed at a competitive level and that experience should tell in a maiden of this shape.
