The Verdict
FormCast selectionTouleenConfidence 4/5Didn't win
Touleen carries top-weight and top rating (OR 112) for good reason - she's clearly the class act here, trained by Owen Burrows for Shadwell out of a top Godolphin/Shadwell pedigree (Lope De Vega). Her form figures 5-2624 show consistent placing at a high level against similarly smart fillies, and the addition of first-time cheekpieces suggests the yard are trying to find that extra sharpness to convert places into a win. A rating of 112 puts her clear of this field on pure figures - next best on OR is Forty Years On on 105 and The Prettiest Star on 106. Forty Years On arrives in good form (112-11) and is respected, but Touleen's superior class and the fact she's already competing at Group level against stronger opposition gives her the swinging fraction of experience needed for this drop in company/rise in intent. The draw (16) isn't ideal in a 20-runner field but with a stiff 7f at Doncaster there's usually a fair gallop that allows those with pace to switch. Jockey David Probert is a positive, capable of getting cover and producing her late. I expect the market to have her favourite, but she looks like a fair market leader given the clear rating advantage and improving profile. Forty Years On is the most interesting to be wary of for the forecast favourite tag - she's win-only proven and race-fit, but I side with the higher-rated, better-bred filly who is stepping up in a race that suits her stronger galloping style.
