Clonmel 5:05 Result

Top-rated on OR (60) and carries a form line featuring a recent win/second (441-70) before a stalling run last time, which came 47 days ago and can be forgiven with a fresh break. Tongue-tie fitted suggests trainer is working on a breathing issue that may have hampered the last run. Ross O'Sullivan's yard is in good form and this gelding has shown he can figure at a competitive level in this grade, having flashed real ability with those 4-4-1 finishes. Weight of 142lbs (top weight) is a fair reflection of a horse who is clearly working through the ranks, and the drop back in class/company here after facing stronger over recent runs could see him find this easier. Ella's Gold (2) is the market rival on similar OR but her form figures (023040) are more inconsistent and she's already had a look at this grade without winning. Mare Crisium and Sweetie Too are others with fair form but neither has shown the toughness or recent scoring ability that John La Bear flashed a few runs back. The 1m2f trip and yielding ground look suitable for a horse with this profile, and the gelding's class edge (OR 60 vs field mostly in 40s-50s) is the standout form angle. He looks the one to beat on ratings and untapped potential, even though the last run was below par — that's more likely a blip than the true level.
