The Verdict

FormCast selectionWickseyConfidence 4/5Won ✓
Small field juvenile hurdle where form is the key differentiator. Wicksey is the only horse with a win to his name (form figure "1"), carries top weight of 159lbs alongside Vietnorm, and is bred well for the job (Expert Eye is a smart sire, out of a Teofilo mare - decent hurdling pedigree). A 63-day break is workable for a lightly raced 3yo and the yard/owner (Middleham Park) are experienced operators who campaign juveniles purposefully. Vietnorm's form of "12" shows he's been placed but not winning, and is up against a rival who has already proven he can get his head in front. The rest of the field (Jambearee 5th last time, and three no-form runners in Lynxman, Time Twister, Watcha Snoop) are stepping into the unknown against horses with clearer form. Watcha Snoop wearing tongue-tie and unraced/no form is intriguing for the yard but too speculative to oppose the proven winner. Jambearee's headgear addition (blinkers) suggests the yard is working on a leaked run, but a 5th-placed finish 86 days ago doesn't match Wicksey's winning form. Ground (good to soft) shouldn't be an issue for well-bred sorts by Expert Eye/Kessaar. Overall, Wicksey looks the most solidly proven type in a race full of question marks, and his below-market profile (only one win to his name but clearly superior to rivals on form) should offer a fair price in a competitive-look small field. I'll oppose making this too short by not going overboard on confidence, but he's clearly the strongest form pick.
