The Verdict
FormCast selectionFram CastleConfidence 4/5
Fram Castle carries top weight on merit (OR55) but arrives in career-best form, form figures 0-8231 showing steady improvement culminating in a recent win. He's fit having run just 10 days ago, stays this trip well, and the visor appears to have sharpened him up given the progressive figures since it went on. Draw 2 is workable in a small field over 2m1f. Trainer Michael Wigham has him clearly progressing, and jockey claims aside, the form curve (8-2-3-1) is exactly the profile you want in a competitive but modest class 6 handicap - a horse improving into a race rather than one going the wrong way. Chillhi is the widely respected type at similar OR, but his form (066-87) is more inconsistent and less progressive by comparison, with a recent below-par run. Fram Castle's last-time win suggests he has more to offer and is race fit, and with only a shade over 2 miles this stiff test should suit a stayer who's already shown he stays and wins.
Simiyann and Fornido are others in the mix but neither shows the same upward trajectory. Simiyann's form is plateauing around midfield, and Fornido's finishing position has been drifting backwards (244464). La Trinite is interesting but unproven at this trip/class ceiling. Overall Fram Castle looks the most solid, in-form, market-relevant type without being obviously the popular jolly - a fair value proposition among a moderate but competitive band of stayers.
